Built on context, designed for what’s next
The expansion of the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur campus is designed as a seamless continuation of its existing spatial logic. Rather than a detached addition, the new master plan reinforces the established campus framework, ensuring that vertical and horizontal growth remains coherent with the institution’s core identity.
Strategic planning focuses on the interstitial spaces of learning. By mapping existing movement patterns and academic nodes, the expansion fosters spontaneous interactions and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The layout prioritizes a pedestrian-centric experience, connecting new academic blocks through shaded corridors and communal courtyards that resonate with the original campus grain.
Climatic resilience remains a primary driver. The design employs a high-performance building envelope and passive cooling strategies tailored to the arid context of Jodhpur. By balancing tradition with technical innovation, the expansion ensures institutional continuity, providing a scalable, sustainable environment that matures alongside its academic community.
