The development of Belagavi Airport in Karnataka has been part of various government initiatives aimed at enhancing regional air connectivity. The airport has benefited from an investment under the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for significant upgrades, including runway extension, a new apron for parking, taxiway improvements, and the construction of a new domestic terminal building.

The Belagavi Airport features expansive entrance and departure halls, security hold areas, remote departure gates, and large baggage claim areas designed for openness and efficient flow, accommodating increasing passenger volumes. The interiors feature a subtle beige colour scheme, with tall columns that add a sense of grandeur and spaciousness, while natural and ambient lighting enhance the soft tones and ensure well-lit, comfortable spaces.

The terminal will include four aerobridges, and the airport’s apron can currently accommodate up to six narrow-body aircraft. Its design prioritizes passenger comfort, operational efficiency, and environmental consciousness, with a focus on regional aesthetics and local cultural elements. The airport’s design reflects the city’s aspirations, balancing functionality with aesthetic appeal, and incorporating sustainable practices to minimize its environmental footprint.
